Hey Friends…!!
Last week, I went on a trip to Mahabaleshwar with some close friends…We hiked through the foggy hills, laughed a lot, and just enjoyed being in the moment…I even got this picture while trying to capture the scenery…but in hindsight, what I really captured was a feeling:
🌿 Presence. Curiosity. Playfulness

And it made me wonder….why don’t my regular days feel more like this?
That trip made me realize something important: you don’t need to escape the city or wait for a weekend to feel like you’re on an adventure...What if that sense of exploration and intention could become part of your daily life?
That’s what I’ve been trying to work on…and there’s one little question I’ve started asking myself every morning that’s helped:
“What’s today’s adventure going to be?”
I’m not saying this as someone who’s mastered the art of productivity or has life perfectly mapped out. Honestly, I’m still figuring it out — but this small mindset shift has made a huge difference for me.
🧭 Why I Call It an “Adventure” (And Not a Task)
Because let’s be real….a “task” feels like something you have to do.
An “adventure” on the other hand….feels like something you get to do.
That shift in language changes how I relate to the work itself….Even something like writing a blog post (like this one) or working on a college project starts to feel different when I frame it as a mission…a meaningful, exciting part of a bigger journey I’m on.
I first came across this idea in the book Make Time, where it’s called a “Daily Highlight.” I just started calling it an “adventure” because it sounds more fun, and honestly, I need that…
🔑 3 Reasons This One Question Helps Me Stay On Track
1️⃣ It gives my day clarity.
Each morning, I ask: If I only accomplish one thing today…what’s the thing that would make the biggest difference?
Sometimes it’s a work-related task….Other days, it’s something simple like catching up with a friend or going to the gym. But the key is: it’s intentional.
2️⃣ It helps me avoid decision fatigue.
When you already know what your Daily Adventure is…you’re not stuck asking yourself, “What should I do next?” every time you have a free moment…You already have your compass set.
3️⃣ It brings a sense of joy and energy to even the most routine tasks.
Instead of dragging myself through a to do list, I’m starting to design my day around something that excites me. Even small things….like making slides for a class or updating my website…feel better when I add a little twist. Maybe I’ll do it with my favorite music on. Or with my friend i like.
🎮 I’ve Also Been Playing With Side Quests
Besides the main “Daily Adventure” I also give myself a few optional “side quests” — just short, meaningful goals for the day. I try to pick one each from:
- Work – e.g., reply to emails or write a blog draft
- Health – e.g., do 15 minutes of stretching
- Relationships – e.g., message someone I haven’t spoken to in a while
They’re simple…but they add more balance and a sense of completeness to the day.
🌟 In the End…
I’m still figuring this out….and I have days where everything falls apart and I just wing it. But more often than not, asking myself “What’s today’s adventure going to be?” gives me something to look forward to. It reconnects me with why I do what I do…
And that makes a huge difference.
So, if you’re also someone who wants to feel more alive in your day…not just productive, maybe give it a try…Start tomorrow morning…Ask yourself the question…See what happens.
And hey, if you ever find yourself on a foggy hilltop in Mahabaleshwar, taking a photo just because it feels right….you’ll know exactly what I mean😉
